The Manhattan Cross Country Club was formed in 2004 to give kids a safe, age-appropriate introduction to the sport of running. Since that time, we have become supporters of our community as well, providing more than $115,000 to area schools to support physical education, and countless hours to develop opportunities for kids to express themselves through running and other physical activity. In 2015, we established the Marvin Hachmeister Scholarship fund for graduating high school seniors who are interested in competing in cross country or track and field at the college level.
Our featured event is the Body First School Fitness Challenge, which brings hundreds of elementary and middle school aged youth together for Fun Runs ranging from 1/4 mile to 1 mile. That event is usually held in late September or early October. Each year, thanks to the support of many generous sponsors, we are able to donate $10,000 or more to area elementary school physical education programs.
